Greece Resumes International Train Service

Love trains? International train service to and from Greece will resume starting May 10th, with big discounts on tickets. The cross-border connections into the Balkans were a casualty of the Greek financial crisis. As of May 10th, travelers will be able to travel via train to and from Skopje, Belgrade and Sofia via Thessaloniki. Discounted tickets will be as low as 12.20 Euro for the Skopje run.

The new resumed routes are not yet reflected on the official Trainose English website, so for the time being, ticketing may have to be done directly at the train stations. Trainose also provides information on some available train passes for Greece. Previously, connections were made using buses to go over the border to connect European rail systems to Greece.
